Jazz Forward Initiative, Inc. will present its 24th Annual Capital Jazzfest on Saturday September 12, 2015 in downtown Jefferson City Missouri, at the corner of Madison and High streets. The music will start at 1:30 pm and continue into the evening until approximately 8:00 pm.
Musicians will present their expertise in music from jazz, swing, blues, Latin, fusion to rock. The music will start at 1:30 pm with the University of Missouri (Columbia) Concert Jazz Band, a 15-piece ensemble directed by Dr. Arthur White, the head of Jazz Studies at Mizzou. At 2:50 pm, mixing funk and smooth will be Adorne, an all-woman jazz group from Kansas City. 4:15 pm will have Marbin, a four-piece fusion group from Chicago, though they may bring out their softer side with some acoustic gypsy jazz. Max Groove of Kansas City will share his smooth-jazz styles at 5:40pm; and Clarence Brewer, aka King Klarentz, will dirty-delta-blues it as the final performance, starting at 7:00 pm.
Along with the music is the Capital Arts Street Art Fair, featuring a free chalk art competition that begins at 1:00pm.
