SaskTel Saskatchewan and PRIDE PartnershipSaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival announced updates for this year's festival, including its new partnership with Pride YXE.

SASKATOON - The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is proud to announce over 70 free shows during the 10 day festival, June 23 to July 2, 2017. Included in the announcement is the complete PotashCorp Free Stage lineup, the Restaurant Series, and pop-up shows sponsored by DTN YXE (formerly the Downtown Partnership). Artists included in the free lineup announcement include Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin' Altar Boys, Son of Dave, Tami Neilson, Les Filles de Illighadad, Blue Moon Marquee and many more! 

Artistic Director, Kevin Tobin said, "As exciting as big shows like Amanda Marshall, Serena Ryder, and Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton are, the many free shows featuring musical gems such as Le Filles De Illighdad, Haliu Mergia Trio, Delhi 2 Dublin, Oral Fuentes Reggae Band, Maurice Drouin and hundreds more local musicians, the free program showcases the tremendous talent we have right here in Saskatchewan."

Festival fans may comb through the free, ticketed, cover, and pop-up shows on the festival website - saskjazz.com. For Facebook users the festival suggests logging in with your Facebook account and creating your own schedule! The 2017 mobile app will launch on Thursday, May 18th and schedules created will automatically sync with the mobile app. 


New in 2017, the location of the free stage will be in Kiwanis Park North (map), which is the same site as the Meewasin Skating Rink. The new location will include a street closure along Spadina Crescent East from 22nd Street to 23rd Street providing additional space for festival fans to enjoy the music. The street closure will be in effect from Monday, June 19th to Monday, July 3rd (inclusive). 


The festival is showing their pride in 2017 as they partner with the Saskatoon Pride Festival on Saturday, June 24th. The first Saturday of the Jazz Festival overlaps with the 25th edition of Saskatoon Pride Festival creating a unique opportunity to bridge the two major events in Saskatoon. The Pride parade will be strutting through downtown between 1pm and 2:30pm culminating on 21st Street and 4th Avenue near the Delta Bessborough Hotel. Following the parade the Potash Corp Free Stage (now located in Kiwanis Park North) will be animated with a day co-programmed by Pride and the Jazz Festival. 

“Creating meaningful partnerships that celebrate and showcase the diversity of our community makes the Jazz Festival a dynamic event and strong organization," said Kevin Tobin, Artistic Director of the Jazz Festival.

The co-programmed day will include the following artists:

  • 1:45PM: Jessica Robinson
  • 2:30PM: LJ Tyson
  • 3:15PM: Anna Haverstock
  • 4:15PM: Soft Cotton
  • 5:15PM: DJ R2
  • 6:00PM: Catey Shaw
  • 8:00PM: Hawksley Workman

The free programming announcement compliments shows already announced and on sale, including Feist, Amanda Marshall, Walk off the Earth, Brett Kissel, Michael Franti and Spearhead and many others. Tickets for all shows are on sale now online, at the Box Office located on the 7th Floor of the Bessborough Hotel or by phone 306.652.6200. 

The Festival Box Office will be moving to the lobby of the Delta Bessborough Hotel as of Monday, May 1st. Hours are 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Festival hours (June 23 to July 2) will be noon to 7pm, daily.
