More details from Waterfront Blues Festival (www.waterfrontbluesfest.com):

PORTLAND, OR - The 30th annual Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival presented by First Tech Federal Credit Union is almost here! Single day passes are $10 when purchased in advance or $15 at the gate. The Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival is the best 4th of July entertainment value around. From June 30-July 4, the event will feature 150 musical performances on four stages next to the Willamette River in the heart of Portland… all for a good cause.

Since 1988, Oregon Food Bank has brought great blues music to Portland to help alleviate hunger. What started as a much smaller effort has grown into a world-class multi-day music experience. Oregon Food Bank is more than the beneficiary of the Waterfront Blues Festival; it owns and operates the event. “Funds raised through pass sales help to ensure that Oregon Food Bank is able to fulfill its mission -- to eliminate hunger and its root causes…because no one should be hungry,” says Oregon Food Bank CEO Susannah Morgan.

Highlights of this year's eclectic 30th anniversary lineup include: roots rock star Chris Isaak, headlining opening night; Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famer, Elvin Bishop; Brit neo-soul diva Joss Stone; New Orleans funksters, Galactic; Memphis soul legend Booker T & his Stax Revue; legendary 'summer of love' boogie-rockers, Canned Heat; the 'Hendrix of the Sahara,' Vieux Farka Touré; neo-rockabilly/bluesman JD McPherson; Gulf Coast zydeco star Chubby Carrier; Cajun stompers, the Pine Leaf Boys; this year's blues Grammy winner, Fantastic Negrito; Portland's Fellini-esque circus/marching band, MarchFourth; Mississippi's teen blues prodigy, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram... and dozens more.

The 2017 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival takes place June 30-July 4 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Children six and under are free. Oregon Trail Card holders may attend the festival at no charge by showing their OTC card at any entry gate. To purchase passes, read artist bios, and plan your schedule, visit waterfrontbluesfest.com.
