General info

Celebrating its 27th year, Toronto’s summer mainstay the Beaches International Jazz Festival will be taking place July 10 – 26, 2015. The Festival will feature a dynamic musical roster, multiple stages, and even an enticing line-up of gourmet food trucks.

In celebration of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games, Beaches Jazz will be holding an additional week of performances. Pan Am Welcome performances will take place at Billy Bishop Airport from Wednesday July 8 – Friday July 10. To kick-off the festival, Pan Am Celebration will be held Friday July 10 – Sunday July 12 at the Woodbine Park Main Stage and the Woodbine Park Indie Stage (Northern Dancer Boulevard and Lakeshore Boulevard East) with salsa and reggae performances, followed by a flag display celebrating all Pan American countries.

An exciting lineup of performances will continue to take place at Woodbine Park from Friday July 17 – Sunday July 19 at the TD Main Stage, and at the OLG Main Stage from Friday July 24 – Sunday July 26. The concerts will showcase the sensational musical talents of both established and emerging artists including Grammy award-winning blues artist Chris Thomas King, Canadian gypsy jazz group The Lost Fingers featuring John Jorgenson and Australian big band ska ensemble Melbourne Ska Orchestra

In addition to the Pan Am festivities, two new stages have been added to support this year’s lineup. The A Cappella Stage will host performances from Friday July 17 – Sunday July 19 and the World Beat Stage will host acts from Thursday July 23 – Sunday July 26. Another new program offering is the Farmers’ Market Jazz Series, where there will be two concerts held at both East Lynn Market (Sunday July 12 and Sunday July 19) and Leslieville Market (Thursday July 9 and Thursday July 16). Funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), there will also be a Photography and Multi-Arts Exhibition at Woodbine Park and 1842 Queen St. East from Friday July 10 – Sunday July 12 and Friday July 24 – Sunday July 26.

The third annual and highly anticipated Taste of Jazz will be held at Woodbine Park on Tuesday July 21 and Wednesday July 22. Featuring live music and a line-up of gourmet food trucks offering a full range of culinary delights, the Taste of Jazz is sure to excite foodies and music lovers alike.

Crowd favourite StreetFest returns this year with a host of bands from Thursday July 23 – Saturday July 25 on street corners and rooftops on Queen Street East between Woodbine and Beech Avenues. The melodies of calypso, new age, jazz, fusion, Latin, blues and Cajun will delight a plethora of fans. Artists will also showcase their talents at the Balmy Beach Club, an exclusive members-only venue at the foot of Beech Avenue.

Continuing its strong support of the Beaches community, the Festival will hold its annual Beaches Jazz Fun Run at the Beach Boardwalk on Sunday July 12. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit Rotary International, the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation, and the Canadian Running Series Foundation. Once the run is completed, participants can relax and enjoy the fabulous music at Woodbine Park.

The Festival unfolds each summer in the heart of the lakeside community and is a top attraction for local residents and tourists alike. What began as a small, two-day event in 1989, executive producer Lido Chilelli has evolved it into a highly anticipated three-week celebration of music, drawing close to one million attendees annually. Presently Canada’s largest free jazz festival, each year Beaches Jazz attracts tourists from across the globe and has been named one of the top ten jazz festivals in the world by MSN.com.

Beaches International Jazz Festival sponsors include the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, TD, Mill St. Brewery, Two Oceans Wines, Savanna Premium Cider, PortsToronto, Province of Ontario, Ontario Trillium Fund, Ontario Media Development Corporation, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Canadian Heritage and CTV.
