Wyclef Jean | Saturday, June 27 | TD Mainstage | 8PM | $64 early bird | $74 regular | Opener: Five Alarm Funk

The music that Wyclef Jean has written, performed, and produced, both solo and as founder and guiding member of the Fugees, has been a consistently powerful, pop cultural force for over two decades. In 1996, the Fugees released their monumental album The Score. The album, created in Wyclef’s studio in his uncle’s basement in New Jersey, hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned a trio of smash singles (including their indelible reinvention of Roberta Flack’s 1973 ballad “Killing Me Softly”), and is now certified six times platinum. But Wyclef, a child prodigy with a wealth of musical influences from jazz to classic rock to reggae, resisted the pressure to duplicate the sound and style of that masterwork. Instead he launched himself as a producer and solo artists. Ever since, Wyclef has been rewarded for his creativity and adventurousness with three Grammy Awards, a spot on the cover of Rolling Stone’s special “Top 50 Hip Hop Players,” and the opportunity to make music with such legends as Michael Jackson, Queen, Mick Jagger, and Paul Simon. He has released six albums that have sold nearly nine million copies worldwide, including his 1997 debut The Carnival. While it’s been six years since his last studio album, Wyclef has not abandoned his dedication to sonic excursions. His new album, the upcoming Clefication, features contributions from Afrojack, Emeli Sandé, and multi-platinum DJ/recording artist Avicii.

The New Pornographers | Friday, June 26 | TD Mainstage | 7PM | $39 early bird | $49 regular | Openers: Viet Cong & Slowdown Molasses

Since their debut in 2000, The New Pornographers have released five studio albums including, Together (2010), of which, NPR Music praised, “Unimpeachable pop gems…these are the songs of summer”. The melding of Newman’s voice with Neko Case and Kathryn Calder is endlessly inventive, weaving in and out of the nervous-sounding rhythm that is the band’s calling card. Their latest work, Brill Bruisers, is the first new release in four years from the acclaimed supergroup. Of the new album, lead-singer and main songwriter AC Newman comments, “This is a celebration record. After periods of difficulty, I am at a place where nothing in my life is dragging me down and the music reflects that. We wanted Xanadu and we wanted Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which translated into sparklier and faster.”

Matt Andersen | Thursday, July 2 | TD Mainstage | 7PM | $39 early bird | $49 regular | Openers: Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer & Steve Hill

With over 2 million views on YouTube, independent sales over 30,000 albums, a 2013 European Blues Award, and winning Best Solo Performer at the Memphis Blues Challenge, it appears that the entire world is now discovering Matt Andersen. A powerhouse performer with a giant soul-filled voice and commanding stage presence, Matt has built a formidable following the old fashioned way – touring worldwide and letting the converted audiences and Andersen devotees spread his reputation through word of mouth. Now with Weightless, his debut album for True North Records, Matt’s music has been captured on record as never before. After hearing the instant classic material on Weightless, it’s hard to imagine any fan of Matt Andersen—old or new—leaving unsatisfied.

Colin James | Saturday, July 4 | TD Mainstage | 7PM | $54 early bird | $64 regular | Opener: Lee Fields & the Expressions

Colin James has worn many hats during his long and storied career. When Colin first hit the scene a quarter century ago, he became an instant rock guitar hero, mentored by the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan. Since then, this iconic Canadian has topped the charts as a pop vocalist, recorded an acclaimed blues album and led the swing revival with his Little Big Band, which he both fronted and produced. He has performed for the Queen, sold multi-platinum many times over and continues to sell out shows coast to coast. Along the way, he’s written memorable hit songs and given us distinctive covers of timeless classics. Colin said of his newest album, Hearts on Fire, “Making this record with my good friend Colin Linden and a fantastic veteran rhythm section was an amazing experience. The majority of the recording was done in Nashville during a stretch of warm spring weather so every time I hear the songs I feel like I’m right back in The South. I hope my fans enjoy listening to this record as much as we all enjoyed making it.”

Molly Johnson with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra | Saturday, July 4 | Broadway Theatre | 7:30PM | $49 early bird | $59 regular

Juno award winning Canadian vocalist Molly Johnson’s voice speaks to an emotional depth that few vocalists ever reach. Like the woman behind it, it is a voice filled with humour, joy, surprise, sassiness and, of course, love. As a highly respected musician and Officer of The Order of Canada, Molly's performances of classic jazz, popular standards and soulful originals, are the perfect musical paring with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra. Repertoire will include the music of Billy Holiday and her contemporaries reimagined and, instrumental pieces showcasing members of the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra.

John Pizzarelli Trio | Saturday, June 27 | Broadway Theatre | 7:30PM | $49 early bird | $59 regular | Opener: Crestwood

The world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer, John Pizzarelli, was called “Hip with a wink” by Town & Country, “madly creative” by the Los Angeles Times and “the genial genius of the guitar” by The Toronto Star. He led a 40 member live orchestra at Radio City Music Hall in Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way. Pizzarelli received the 2009 Ella Fitzgerald Award from the Montreal International Jazz Festival, joining a select group of past winners, including Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, and Harry Connick, Jr. He performs throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and Japan performing classic pop, jazz, and swing, while setting the standard for stylish modern jazz.
