SaskTel Saskatewan Jazz Festival announces its inaugural free yoga class and acoustic jam with Michael Franti & Ryan Leier.
FREE YOGA JAM WITH MICHAEL FRANTI & RYAN LEIER
For Immediate Release - SASKATOON, May 27, 2015 - For the first time, the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is proud to offer a free yoga class with live music. On Tuesday, June 30 from 12pm to 1pm in the Bessborough Gardens the public is invited to join musician and filmmaker, Michael Franti, in a FREE yoga class and acoustic jam for yogis of all experience levels, abilities, ages, shapes, and sizes. The class will be taught by Saskatoon's Ryan Leier, founder of One Yoga while Michael Franti provides live musical accompaniment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat and if desired, water. Jacqueline Conway, Director of Marketing, explains "We're offering this free yoga class to provide people with an enhanced experience of the festival with activities beyond concerts. Fitness is a top priority for a healthy lifestyle and yoga is something that almost anyone can practice. We're excited to have a local teacher of Leier's caliber available and interested in sharing his expertise with our community. And the stars aligned when we booked Michael Franti because he practices yoga and has a friendship with Ryan." The event will raise awareness for the Do It For The Love Foundation, among other notable organizations. Franti co-founded Do It For The Love with his fiancée, Saskatoon's own Sara Agah, emergency room nurse, jewellery designer, and entrepreneur. Do It For The Love Foundation is a global nonprofit wish-granting foundation that brings people living with life-threatening illnesses, children with severe challenges, and wounded veterans to live concerts. Through the healing power of music, the foundation's goal is to inspire joy, hope and lasting celebratory memories in the faces of severe illness or trauma. Lululemon will be on-site providing giveaways during the event. People who are not inclined to practice yoga are still welcome to attend to enjoy Michael Franti's performance and the Bessborough Gardens. Lululemon is also involved in the free weekly yoga class offered on Parliament Hill in Ottawa which has been attracting 1000+ yogis each week. Read a recent story from the Ottawa Citizen.
